Unique Teen is a welcoming environment where everyone is celebrated for who they are.
At Unique Teen, we welcome kids from the ages 6 to 17 who relate and/or belong to the LGBTQ+ community in order to provide a safe and welcoming environment where one can feel self-belonging, a sense of security, and acceptance.
At Unique Teen, we empower our residents to live healthy, successful lives. Unique Teen will celebrate diversity and also advocate for our resident's justice and opportunities.
Our team consists of experienced professionals who are passionate about protecting children. We have social workers, medical specialists, and other experts who work together to provide the best possible services to our residents.
At Unique Teen, we offer a wide range of services, including but not limited to, trauma care, therapeutic services, psychiatric services, and behavior management services. If a child requires a service we don't already have, we are more than happy to get that service available to them, and anyone else that may need it.
For example, we have included pigeon & planting therapy
Pigeon therapy involves using the care, feeding, and observation of pigeons as a calming, therapeutic activity for children dealing with mental health challenges and past trauma. The gentle, non-threatening nature of pigeons can help children feel safe and build trust. Interacting with these birds encourages emotional regulation, reduces anxiety, and offers a soothing, repetitive activity that promotes mindfulness. For children with past trauma, caring for pigeons can also foster a sense of responsibility, connection, and comfort in nurturing another living being, helping to improve mood and social confidence in a non-judgmental environment.
Planting and gardening can be a powerful, healing activity for children struggling with mental health issues and past traumas. It offers a calming, hands-on way for children to express themselves without the pressure of words. Working with soil, seeds, and plants helps reduce anxiety and stress by creating a peaceful environment where children can focus on nurturing something living.
Caring for plants teaches patience, responsibility, and mindfulness, which can improve emotional regulation. Watching a plant grow over time can give children a sense of accomplishment and hope, reminding them that growth is possible even after difficult experiences. Gardening also provides sensory experiences — like touching soil or smelling flowers — that can ground children in the present moment, easing symptoms of anxiety and trauma.
